Loving God with ALL of our SOUL

Uncategorized

“My SOUL magnifies the LORD, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,”

Luke 1:46

To magnify means to make something appear larger than it is… but we know that is impossible with God. We can’t make Him larger than He is, we can only see Him more clearly for just how GREAT He really is.

Here in this passage, we read Mary’s song of praise after she found out she was the chosen one to carry the Savior.

Mary’s Song of Praise: The Magnificant

And Mary said,

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant.
    For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed;for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
    and holy is his name.And his mercy is for those who fear him
    from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm;
    he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts;

he has brought down the mighty from their thrones
    and exalted those of humble estate;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
    and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has helped his servant Israel,
    in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
    to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

Which line from the song sticks out the most to you? Which one makes you fall more in love with the LORD?

Mine was “He who is mighty has done great things for me.”

The Lord has done such amazing things for me, and I’m sorry to say, I don’t always magnify Him for it. But part of our study today reminds us to make God out to be big in even the smallest of things, leading to your soul loving Him even more.

We realize His hand working in our lives > We give him credit and glory > Our soul magnifies Him.

My miracle is my son who turns 10 this week! I can’t believe he’s turning 10!

When we were “ready” to have kids and started trying to conceive, well, we kept being “ready and waiting” for a while 😉

Nothing was happening, and I was getting so distraught. The Lord tenderly led me to the story of 1 Samuel 1 in His word where a woman named Hannah was begging the Lord for a child herself.

She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly.And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.” 1 Samuel 1:10-11

The Lord answered my prayer a few years later and “Samuel” (Sam) was born! We named him Samuel from the passage I had clung to while I waited on the Lord.

What are you struggling with right now? I encourage you to search the word for a passage where someone went through something similar, and make it your prayer. The Lord will so tenderly touch your heart and move on your behalf.

No matter what He decides the outcome to be, you can be sure He has worked all things together for good and in the future you will be telling others of what He did in the situation, and how you trust it was His doing all along, and He knows best.

You will be magnifying the Lord with all your soul!

What has the Lord so clearly done for you? Magnify Him and let us know! Comment below.  ❤
