It’s day 6 of the 40 Day Marriage Challenge here at Refocused Bible Study.
L- log the verse: “In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10 ESV
O- observations: God’s love is enough. Wednesday night I sat beside a missionary friend who just returned from 5 years living abroad as part of a mission to translate the bible into all languages. When we asked them how they were doing adjusting to life back in the states, this was their testimony: “God is enough.” His love is so overwhelming and encompassing that when things in your life and relationships are lacking, you realize his love is the only steady you couldn’t live without.
V- Verse’s implications for marriage- even when things are off or bad in your marriage, God’s love is enough. When you are in valleys in your relationship, you will find Jesus there if you seek Him. His love sustains us in times where we don’t understand and have trouble loving our spouse sacrificially. Seeing all things in marriage with Jesus on the cross in the backdrop will remind us that we press on to bring God glory just as Jesus did, because He loved us.
E- Sacrificing Savior, You are enough. Your love is what we desire. When things are good or great in our marriages, we give you glory. When times are tough, help us see you on the cross in the forefront of our minds, offering forgiveness and love for us and our spouse. In that one moment in history, we see love clearer than ever. Thank you, Jesus,
Amen
